The Joy of Baking: How Cookies Became My Sweetest Passion

Baking has been a part of my life since childhood, but it wasn’t until grad school that I started baking regularly. During that time, my small group at church introduced me to a special chocolate chip cookie recipe shared by our pastor’s wife. After enjoying these cookies for several months, I finally got my hands on the recipe — and that’s when my baking journey truly took off.
I started baking these cookies as gifts for friends, acquaintances, family, and even teachers. Over time, I tweaked the recipe to suit my own taste, adjusting the balance of sweetness, saltiness, richness, and texture. Eventually, I branched out into new flavors — from decadent chocolate varieties to light and fruity options. Whether rich and indulgent or bright and tangy, I enjoy eating them all.
Now, I have to be honest — these cookies are NOT healthy. But the process of baking them gives me a dopamine hit that my ADHD brain craves. The act of measuring ingredients, mixing dough, and watching cookies rise in the oven brings a sense of calm and focus that’s deeply satisfying. And of course, nothing beats the reward of biting into a freshly baked cookie afterward. The smell is also amazing and fills my home with a warm and comforting scent. I love the smell of cookies baking in the oven.
This summer, my husband and I are excited to reopen our online cookie store temporarily. We’re especially looking forward to sharing our favorite cookies with others in Korea, where treats like these are a rare find. I can’t wait to continue to share the rich, comforting flavors that have brought me so much joy — and hopefully, they’ll bring a little joy to others too.
